As an Illustrator and animator, I work with traditional and digital media. My work explores history, I focus on education as a contributing factor in directing our perceived understanding of self as well as the general perception of a group. I am interested in the power of animation as a storytelling devise to communicate complex narratives and I believe that the childish innocence and nature of the form creates an interesting dynamic, where real social issues impacting the lives of several communities can ultimately be represented. I explore techniques that enhances the visual narrative to involve the audience and connect them with the piece. My work aims to give a voice to those without and project their concerns using animation, by approaching complex narratives in an accessible way for children and adults alike.
Ultimately, I want my work to be a platform that initiates deeper conversations around the human condition and encourage individual thinking and understanding of history, as well as help particularly young teens identify how they can contribute to change within their communities.
